acceptance of terms
by accessing or using our marketplace, you agree to be bound by these terms of service. if you disagree with any part of these terms, then you may not access the service.
definitions
- service: our website, apps, and related features that enable publishing, browsing, and purchasing content.
- content: anything you post or upload, including text, photos, and other materials.
- subscription: paid access (for example, passport) that renews on a recurring basis until canceled.
user accounts
eligibility: you must be at least 16 years old (or the age of majority in your location, if higher) to use the service.
you are responsible for safeguarding your account credentials and for all activities that occur under your account. you must immediately notify us of any unauthorized uses of your account.
membership terms: annual passport subscriptions auto-renew each billing period until canceled. you can cancel renewal at any time in your account settings; access continues through the end of the paid term. lifetime memberships are one-time, non-transferable, and non-refundable except where required by law.
price changes: we may change subscription prices with advance notice. increases take effect on your next renewal; if you do not agree, you may cancel before the renewal.
content and intellectual property
your content: you retain ownership of content you create and publish. by posting content, you grant us a worldwide, non-exclusive license to host, store, cache, reproduce, display, perform, modify for formatting, and distribute your content on and in connection with the service, including for promotion of the service. you also grant other users a license to access your public content through the service, subject to any purchase terms described below.
original content requirement: all content must be your original work based on your personal experience. plagiarism, copying from other sources, or misrepresenting someone else's work as your own is strictly prohibited and will result in immediate account suspension.
content standards: your content must be accurate, respectful, appropriate, and provide unique value. we reserve the right to reject or remove content that duplicates existing itineraries without adding substantial new insights, perspectives, or information. quality and originality are required alongside authenticity.
complete content requirement: itineraries must provide complete, standalone value and cannot be abbreviated previews that primarily direct users to external sites or services for essential information. content that serves mainly as a teaser or summary with the intention of driving traffic elsewhere will be rejected. your itinerary should contain all essential information needed for travelers to benefit from your expertise directly on our platform.
feedback: if you choose to share ideas or suggestions with us, you agree we may use them without restriction or compensation to you.
copyright complaints: if you believe content on the service infringes your rights, contact us with a detailed notice. we may remove content and, where appropriate, terminate repeat infringers.
plagiarism policy
plagiarism is presenting another person's work as your own. examples include:
- copying text, photos, maps, or layouts from other guides, blogs, or platforms without permission
- near-verbatim rewrites or translations of someone else's content that preserve the selection, structure, or arrangement
- using ai or scraping to reproduce others' content and publishing it as your own
what is generally acceptable:
- facts, ideas, and public information stated in your own words based on your personal experience
- short commonplace phrases and non‑original expressions
enforcement: we may remove content, suspend or terminate accounts (including permanent termination on a first credible notice), and withhold or reverse payouts for policy violations, including repeat or egregious plagiarism.
notice policy: we may act on credible notices from rights holders and, where appropriate, implement a repeat‑infringer policy. we are not obligated to monitor content, but we may review and take action at our discretion.
escalation flow: upon receiving a credible notice, we may (a) temporarily disable or restrict access to the reported content, (b) place a hold on pending payouts related to the reported content, (c) request a response from the creator within a reasonable time, and (d) decide to restore, remove, or take account-level action. payout holds may be released or reversed based on the outcome.
prohibited conduct
you may not:
- post false, misleading, or plagiarized content
- upload content you don't own or lack permission to use
- create incomplete itineraries that primarily direct users to external sites for essential travel information
- engage in harassment, hate speech, or discriminatory behavior
- attempt to manipulate ratings, reviews, or search rankings
- spam users or the platform with unsolicited content
- violate any applicable laws or regulations
- circumvent our payment or fee systems
marketplace model
independent sellers: creators on our platform are independent sellers who maintain control of their own payment accounts and are responsible for their own taxes, refunds, and customer service related to their content.
platform facilitation: we provide the technology platform and marketplace infrastructure but do not take custody of funds. payments are processed directly between buyers and creators, with the platform collecting an application fee.
creator accountability: creators are solely responsible for the accuracy, quality, and legal compliance of their content. while we maintain editorial standards, creators remain liable for their published materials.
payments and fees
passport membership: required for creators and active community members. billed annually at $20/year or one-time at $150 for lifetime access.
marketplace fees: we charge a 7% platform fee on sales, which drops to 5% once you exceed $10,000 in trailing 12-month sales. standard payment processing fees also apply.
tips: we take 0% platform fee on tips sent through comments. only payment processing fees apply.
refunds: passport memberships are generally non-refundable. purchase refunds are rare and at our discretion where required or appropriate.
taxes: prices may exclude taxes. where required, we will collect and remit applicable taxes; otherwise, you are responsible for any local taxes or duties.
payouts: creator payouts are processed by our payout provider and are subject to that provider's terms. we may withhold or reverse payouts in cases of fraud, chargebacks, or policy violations.
creator responsibilities
as a creator, you agree to:
- provide accurate, up-to-date information based on personal experience
- create content that adds unique value beyond existing itineraries
- ensure itineraries are complete and provide standalone value without requiring external links
- accept that we may reject content that duplicates existing offerings
- maintain appropriate tax records and comply with local tax obligations
- not engage in fraudulent activity or manipulate engagement
- respect intellectual property rights of others
creators must comply with our payout provider's onboarding requirements (including identity verification) and applicable laws in their jurisdiction.
content moderation & quality control
we reserve the right to review, moderate, reject, or remove content at our discretion. this includes using automated systems, ai analysis, and human review to ensure content quality, originality, and compliance with these terms.
originality requirement: we may reject itineraries that substantially duplicate existing content without providing unique value, even if the content is your original work. saturated destinations require exceptional quality or niche perspectives. we maintain editorial discretion to curate a diverse, high-value content library.
repeated violations or quality issues may result in account suspension or termination. we may also withhold earnings for accounts under review for policy violations.
usage restrictions
- do not scrape, crawl, or use automated means to access the service without permission
- do not attempt to reverse engineer or interfere with platform operations
- do not collect personal information from others without consent
account termination
we may suspend, restrict, or terminate your account, remove or disable access to content, and hold or reverse payouts, with or without notice, if we believe (in our discretion) that these terms or our policies have been or may be violated, fraudulent or illegal activity has occurred, or action is needed to protect users, creators, or the service (including while we investigate suspected violations).
permanent bans: we reserve the right to permanently ban users for inappropriate behavior, abuse, harassment, fraud, or other serious violations of these terms or our community standards. permanent bans result in immediate and irreversible loss of account access.
subscription refunds upon termination: if we permanently ban your account for policy violations, we will issue a pro-rated refund of your annual passport subscription based on the number of full months remaining in your subscription period. no refunds are provided for lifetime passport memberships in the event of account termination for violations.
you may delete your account at any time through your account settings. upon termination, you lose access to platform features, though your published content may remain available to users who previously purchased it.
disclaimers
the service is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind. we don't guarantee the accuracy of user-generated content or the availability of our service. travel involves inherent risks, and users are responsible for their own safety and decisions.
limitation of liability
to the maximum extent permitted by law, we shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or any loss of profits or revenues, whether incurred directly or indirectly.
in no event will our aggregate liability for all claims relating to the service exceed the greater of $100 or the amounts you paid to us (excluding creator purchases) in the 12 months before the claim.
dispute resolution
these terms are governed by the laws of the jurisdiction where our company is incorporated. any disputes will be resolved through binding arbitration rather than in court, except for small claims court matters.
to the extent permitted by law, you agree to resolve disputes with us on an individual basis and not as part of a class, consolidated, or representative action, and the arbitrator may not consolidate claims or preside over a class or representative proceeding.
export compliance
you may not use the service if you are located in, or are a resident of, an embargoed country, or if you are on a sanctions list or otherwise prohibited from receiving the service under applicable export control or sanctions laws.
force majeure
we will not be liable for any delay or failure to perform resulting from causes beyond our reasonable control, including acts of god, labor disputes, power outages, internet failures, or changes in law.
assignment
you may not assign these terms without our prior written consent. we may assign or transfer these terms in connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets.
notices
we may provide notices to you via email, in-app messages, or by posting within the service. you are responsible for keeping your contact information current.
miscellaneous
- severability & waiver: if any provision is unenforceable, the remainder remains in effect. failure to enforce a provision is not a waiver.
- entire agreement: these terms are the entire agreement between you and us regarding the service.
- survival: sections that by their nature should survive termination will survive (including content licenses you grant, payments and fees, disclaimers, limitations of liability, dispute resolution, and this miscellaneous section).
changes to terms
we may update these terms periodically. we'll notify users of significant changes via email or platform notifications. continued use of the service after changes constitutes acceptance of the new terms.
